Summary

The objective of the lab is to facilitate the analysis of the products resulting from CO2 reduction.

The gas products can be analyzed online or off line using gas chromatography (GC) and the liquid products can be analyzed off line using ion chromatography (IC). In the lab, there are also potentiostats to run the electrochemical reactions and the required gases supply. Nevertheless, the lab facilities can also be used to analyse different gas mixtures, or any polar product that requires ion chromatography to be analysed.

The Energy laboratory began its activities in mid-2022 and at the end of the year, 82 samples had been analysed by IC. Regarding GC, 18 samples were measured within the framework of an industrial collaboration. The whole setup including a potentiostat, a reaction cell, two MFC and a GC, was intensively used in an ICIQ research project, which included several experiments related to the CO2 reduction reaction and online measurement of the gases generated.
